Week 27

Last week seemed to go really quickly, it only feels like yesterday that I was doing my weekly update blog post.

I completed two 5k's this week - the Do Life and The Color Run, both were lots and lots of fun, and I also set a new PR for 5k doing the Do Life run, but was nowhere close on The Color Run as the course made it a lot slower, especially stopping to get colored every kilometer.

Numbers wise, I tracked Monday to Thursday 100% then TOTM arrived and it all went out of the window and I didn't track and as a result of that I had a gain of 0.2lbs, which I think I am very lucky to have had as I was expecting a lot more. My total loss is now at 10.4lbs.

Step wise this week, you would have thought I would have beat my 65034 steps from last week after doing two 5k's - but I guess I was super lazy on the other days. It was very warm so I wasn't doing the usual long dog walks this week. My steps came in at 61097 for the week. My very active % was more this week, but other than that the numbers were pretty poor :( Want to really try hard this week and make it to a minimum of 70000 steps.

Lots planned for this week, so should be kept active and away from the kitchen.
Have a great week everyone

Week 12

I'm back from my two week vacation to England, where I had lots and lots of fun, it was great to spend time with friends and family. It's strange as when I'm there it doesn't feel like I live so far away, but now I'm back home it does feel like a long way away :(

Well, I planned to try and be good and not eat loads, BUT.... once I was there, there were so many yummy English foods that I can't get here that I ended up eating pretty much everything and anything!! As a result I gained 4.2lbs, which to be honest is a lot less than I was expecting - I was expecting at least 7lbs gain. I did do a lot of walking and cycling so I guessed that helped, plus I didn't track at all, but did try and make some healthier choices and drink lots of water. This now brings my total loss to 7lbs, which I guess is still a loss.

I went shopping this morning and my fridge is full of lots of healthy fruit and veg, hubby will be shocked when he gets home and goes to find a snack! I have just finished the course of steroids for my slipped disc (not that they helped this time), so I'm hoping that will help with the cravings, as I seemed to be constantly hungry when I was taking them. I have physio tomorrow and will discuss the best exercises to do, but am hoping to go back to water running classes next week, or at least some swimming.

Its just under 23 weeks until I take part in the Susan G Komen 3 day 60 mile walk. So far I have raised $1295 towards my $2300 target. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, and if you would like to donate here is the link to my fundraising page.

I guess I should think about starting some training plan soon!!

I'm not sure if I mentioned it previously but I have signed up for The Color Run in San Francisco on July 14th at Candlestick Park. I am so looking forward to it, I'm taking part with a group of friends including Marisol There will be lots of photos taken at the event for sure.

I have decided I am going to buy the fitbit not the Nike Fuel Band, but I still need to hit that 275 goal first. 10.2lbs to go. I'm hoping that I can lose most of my vacation gain this week and get straight back on track. Watch this space ....

Motivation tools

Anything that helps motivate me to lose weight is always good. So I thought I would share my two latest tools with you.

The first one comes from an idea I received from @MamaFeeStevens after reading her recent blog post.
So I went out to my local Ross store and found some cute glass jars for $3 each and then bought some colored glass stones online and the end result is
The jar on the left is the amount of pounds I would ideally like to lose - there was 140 in there to start with and the one on the right is the number of pounds I have lost so far. Total of 11 so far. I think it looks pretty and is a good reminder of how each little pound soon mounts up to a lot of pounds. I will of course be sharing up to date pics along the way as the jar on the right gets fuller.

My second motivation tool this week is a weight loss challenge on Twitter that is being hosted by @DaciaLee33 You can find details of the challenge on her recent blog post. The challenge officially started yesterday, but if you ask nicely I'm sure she may let you join if you sign up in the next day :) It's an 8 week challenge and the is based on the percentage of weight loss each week.. A big thank you to Dacia for hosting this awesome challenge. At present we have 30 participants. I have also offered to host another challenge after this 8 week one.

I'm also thinking about taking part in the Color Run in San Francisco on July 28. Just waiting for registration to open and ideally someone to run with. So if you are in San Francisco and would like to run with me - please let me know. Although I say run, it will be more of a fast walk. It's only 5k so not too far and it looks so much fun.
