This was my second month participating in the foodie penpals program.
The person who was matched with me and got to send me a box was Amy who blogs at
Amy's Kitchen Creations. When she emailed to ask me what my likes/dislikes/allergies were I told her:
I try to eat as clean as possible. Nothing artificial and no fructose corn syrup.
Allergy wise I'm allergic to mushrooms, and I don't like raisins/dates/figs.
No preference to sweet or savory
Amy mentioned it was a new shopping experience for her, as she bought items and looked for things she wouldn't normally buy. She did a fantastic job and sent me some yummy goodies
As soon as I opened the book the protein chips were the first thing I saw and the words nacho cheese!! So I immediately opened them and ate the whole pack - they were so so good!
I love love love nuts, and havent had cashews in a long time, so was excited to try these, OMG, they were amazing, it was hard to be controlled and weigh out individual portions as they were so moreish, I just hope I can find them in a store near me. The bag lasted less than a week!
I'm a big fan of peanut butter and have tried the Justins hazelnut butter before and really liked it, haven't tried the almond butter yet. Writing this blog post has reminded me that I have hidden them in the back of the cupboard, so I must get them out and try the almond one.
Caramel apple spice, just the name itself sounds so good. I do like tea but have to be in the mood for it, and lately as it has been so warm I haven't had this, so its tucked up in the cupboard waiting for a chilly day, and I'm sure it will do a great job of warming me up.
These lasted just over a day, they were also super good. I opened the bag as soon as they arrived so I could try them, and I was good and measured out an individual portion, but over the course of 24 hours the portions soon added up and the whole bag was gone. They were so nice, I would definitely buy these in my store if I saw them.
The final item in my box was a beautiful hand written card from Amy :) I love the fact that you also receive a personal note from the sender, it makes it extra special.
Thanks again Amy for such a wonderful box, you did a great job with your choices. I hope you enjoyed the box your foodie penpal sent you as much as I enjoyed mine.
And now it's time for some details about
Foodie Penpals. In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of
goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about
the goodies you received from your penpal! -The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items
or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also
include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining
what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your
items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget
about flat rate boxes!)-Foodie Penpals is
open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you
get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to
post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired
together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month. -Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please
note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We've
determined things might get too slow and backed up if we're trying to
send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice
versa. If you’re interested in participating for September, please
CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by
September 4th as pairings will be emailed on September 5th!
*If you're from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to
participate, send me an email and I'll see if we get enough interest
this month!
